Youth corper asked to leave NYSC camp for refusing to wear trousers

Reactions have started trailing the decamping of 2013 Batch A, female corps member, Ms Tolu Ekundayo, by the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Ogun State for wearing skirt at the Shagamu orientation camp.

In a press conference organised by Ekundayo’s church, Faith Revival Apostolic Church, FRAC, in Lagos, the expelled corps member  said she was asked to leave the camp at about 11.00pm on March 8, 2013 by the Ogun State NYSC Co-ordinator, for her refusal to put on trousers.

She explained that her refusal to wear trousers was not in disobedience to NYSC authorities but in line with her belief and faith in God.

Kidnapped foreign hostages killed in Bauchi

Wait minute, let me get this straight. There's another terrorist group in Nigeria aside from Boko Haram? Which one is Ansaru again? Heard they broke away from Boko Haram, and their own is to kidnap and kill foreign workers. The Islamist jihadist militant group claimed their group kidnapped the seven Setraco workers on Saturday February 16th in Bauchi. 

Ansaru - which is vanguard for the Protection of Muslims in Black Africa, claimed they'd killed the foreign hostages, then released a video on Monday March 11th showing some of the corpses of the slain hostages. (Pictured above)

Kanu Heart Foundation N5b Specialist Cardiac Centre Fundraiser

The legendary footballer will hold his foundation's fundraiser this Thursday March 14th at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja. Time 5 pm.

Kanu is trying to raise $35 million (N5 billion) to build a Cardiac Specialist Hospital that will offer free surgery services for children from 1-12 years while adult patients will be highly subsidized.

A State pardon was granted today by President Goodluck Jonathan to convicted Ex-Governor of Bayelsa State, Diepreiye Alamieyeseigha, and seven others, purportedly on the advice of the Council of State which is comprised of the President, Vice President, all state Governors, all living former presidents, Chief Justice of the Federation, the Senate President and speaker amongst others. The seven others that are to receive pardon are:

*Former Chief of General Staff, Oladipo Diya
* Former Chief of Staff Supreme Military Council, and brother of the late President, late Major General Shehu Musa Yar'adua
* Major Bello Magaji NA/­6604

8 year old schoolboy marries 61 year old woman in South Africa

And Joan Rivers has something to say about it. Lol. An 8 year old schoolboy, Sanele Masilela, married 61year-old married mother of five, Helen Shabangu, over the weekend, because the ghost of his dead ancestor told him to and his family, fearing divine retribution, organized a quick wedding.

Defending the wedding, Sanele's family said it's not legally binding, it was just a ritual. They didn't sign a marriage certificate and won't live together. Sanele's 46yr old mum, Patience Masilela said:

'This is the first time this has happened in the family. Sanele is named after his grandfather, who never had a white wedding before he died so asked Sanele to get married. He chose Helen because he loves her. By doing this we made the ancestors happy. If we hadn't done what my son had asked then something bad would have happened in the family. I didn't have a problem with it because I know it's what the ancestors wanted and it would make them happy.

Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority DG, Dr Harold Demuren, sacked

Rape now attracts life imprisonment in Nigeria

The House of Representatives yesterday Tuesday March 5th approved life imprisonment for any person convicted of rape. They also approved a minimum of 20 years without an option of fine for persons convicted of gang raping someone.

The bill, which was sponsored by Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa, also approved 25 years imprisonment for any person who attempted to use chemical, biological or any harmful liquid on another person. (e.g pouring acid on anyone). 

The bill also approved 4 years in jail or a fine not more than N200,000 or both for any person convicted of performing female circumcision and general mutilation or engaging someone to carry it out. Aiding female circumcision attracts N100, 000 or two years in jail or both. www.mannastores.com

Abia State University revokes former governor Orji Kalu’s 1st degree certificate

Abia State University released a statement yesterday Saturday March 2nd saying that they have withdrawn the degree certificate they awarded the former governor of the state, Uzor Orji Kalu. 

The school said they took the decision after they found out that the former governor's admission was flawed. Orji Kalu enrolled at the university when he was governor of the state but only spent two semesters there.

The school is now saying his admission and graduation violated the school's rules and regulations. They didn't know before giving him the certificate? Lol and SMH!

Court frees seven of the accused persons in Aluu4 case

Seven out of the 18 people arrested and standing trial for the murder of the Aluu4 victims were yesterday discharged by a Port Harcourt Chief Magistrates' Court. Their reason? Not enough evidence to suggest they were involved in the killing.

Those discharged yesterday were: Chinwo Cynthia (the only female suspect), George Nwadei, Ekpe Daniel, Gabriel Agburum, Finebone Jeffrey, Endurance Edet and Gabriel Ochie.

The remaining 11 accused persons, including Alhaji Hassan Walewa, the paramount ruler of Omuokiri-Aluu, will face trial for the murder of Tekena Elkanah, Toku Lloyd, Chiadika Biringa and Ugonna Obuzor.www.mannastores.com
